Before you start mixing your ingredients, it is crucial to preheat your oven. Preheating ensures that your baking environment is at the right temperature from the moment your batter goes in. This step is vital for achieving the desired rise and texture in baked goods. When you place your Choco-Banana Oaty Delight Bars in a preheated oven, they begin to cook evenly, allowing the baking powder to activate properly and helping the bars to rise. Skipping this step can result in denser bars that may not hold together well.

Ingredients

2 ripe bananas, mashed

1 cup rolled oats

1/2 cup almond flour (or all-purpose flour)

1/4 cup honey or maple syrup

1/4 cup almond butter (or peanut butter)

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp salt

1/2 cup dark chocolate chips

Optional: 1/4 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8-inch square baking pan or line it with parchment paper.

Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas, honey (or maple syrup), almond butter, and vanilla extract. Stir until well combined.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, mix the rolled oats, almond flour, baking powder, and salt.

Mix Together: Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until fully combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Add Chocolate Chips: Gently fold in the dark chocolate chips and optional chopped nuts, ensuring they're evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Spread and Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it into an even layer. Bake for about 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool and Slice: Allow the bars to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then lift them out (if using parchment) and let them cool completely on a wire rack. Once cool, slice into squares or rectangles.

Enjoy: Serve these delicious bars as a healthy snack or breakfast option. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 5 days, or freeze for longer storage.
