1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs

1/4 cup honey

1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium recommended)

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

1 teaspoon ground ginger

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a kick)

Salt and pepper to taste

1 cup panko breadcrumbs

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

1 large egg, beaten

Fresh green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions
 

Marinate the Chicken: In a medium bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, apple cider vinegar, ground ginger, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Add the chicken thighs to the bowl and coat well. Cover and marinate for at least 30 minutes (or up to 2 hours for more flavor).

    Prepare for Coating: Set up a dredging station. In one shallow bowl, add the all-purpose flour. In a second bowl, place the beaten egg. In a third bowl, combine panko breadcrumbs with a pinch of salt and pepper.

      Coat the Chicken: Remove the marinated chicken from the marinade (reserve the marinade) and dip each piece into the flour, shaking off the excess. Next, dip it into the beaten egg, followed by the panko breadcrumbs, ensuring each piece is fully coated.

        Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes.

          Air Fry the Chicken: Place the coated chicken thighs in a single layer in the air fryer basket. If your air fryer is small, you may need to do this in batches. Spray the chicken lightly with cooking spray to enhance crispiness. Cook for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 74°C).

            Make the Honey Garlic Sauce: While the chicken is cooking, pour the reserved marinade into a small saucepan. Bring it to a boil over medium heat and simmer for about 5 minutes, until slightly thickened. Remove from heat.

              Combine: Once the chicken is done, place it in a large bowl, drizzle the thickened honey garlic sauce over the chicken, and toss to coat evenly.
