Marinating is a crucial step in enhancing the flavor of your sticky honey garlic glazed chicken wings. The marinade not only infuses the chicken with a rich taste but also helps tenderize the meat, making it juicy and delectable. For optimal flavor absorption, aim to marinate your wings for at least 2 hours, though overnight is ideal. This extended marination allows the ingredients—honey, garlic, soy sauce, and ginger—to penetrate deeply into the chicken.

Ingredients

2 lbs chicken wings

1/4 cup honey

1/4 cup soy sauce

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced

1 tablespoon rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

Sesame seeds, for garnish

Chopped green onions, for garnish

Instructions

Prep the Chicken Wings:

    - Rinse the chicken wings under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. This will help them crisp up nicely when cooked.

      Make the Marinade:

        - In a bowl, combine the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, minced ginger, rice vinegar, sesame oil, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Whisk together until well combined.

          Marinate the Wings:

            - Place the chicken wings in a resealable plastic bag or a large bowl. Pour the marinade over the wings, ensuring they are evenly coated. Seal the bag or cover the bowl and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or ideally overnight for maximum flavor.

              Preheat the Oven:

                - Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top. This will help the wings cook evenly and get crispy.

                  Bake the Wings:

                    - Remove the wings from the marinade and let any excess marinade drip off. Arrange the wings in a single layer on the wire rack. Bake for 40-45 minutes, flipping them halfway through, until the wings are crispy and glazed.

                      Glaze for Extra Flavor:

                        - During the last 10 minutes of baking, brush the wings with some reserved marinade (make sure it’s cooked, or boil it for about 5 minutes) to enhance the glaze and flavor.

                          Garnish and Serve:

                            - Once the wings are cooked, remove them from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes. Transfer to a serving platter, sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions, and serve hot!
