Ingredients

12 large pasta shells

2 cups fresh spinach, chopped

1 cup ricotta cheese

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 large egg

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Salt and pepper to taste

2 cups marinara sauce

1 tablespoon olive oil

Fresh basil leaves, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Cook the Pasta Shells: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta shells and cook them for 8-10 minutes, or until al dente. Drain and rinse with cold water to stop the cooking process. Set aside.

Prepare the Filling: In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped spinach, ricotta cheese, 3/4 cup of the cheddar cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.

Stuff the Shells: Using a spoon, fill each pasta shell generously with the spinach and cheese mixture. Place the stuffed shells in a lightly greased 9x13 inch baking dish.

Add Sauce: Pour the marinara sauce evenly over the stuffed shells. Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese on top for an extra cheesy finish.

Bake: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh basil leaves, if desired. Serve warm and enjoy your savory stuffed shells!
